The Vanquest ELASTO Gear Locks (2-pack) offer the perfect retention solution for any packs with 1" webbing (works best* on 1" vertical webbing / vertical MOLLE). Made from injection molded polymer and user-replaceable shock-cord, the ELASTO Gear Locks can go on any 1" webbing, holding an object along the direction of the webbing. With its contoured shape and intuitive design, you can quickly lock/unlock an ELASTO Gear Lock with one hand.
ELASTO locks work best on 1" vertical webbing / vertical MOLLE, holding a cylindrical object in a vertical position. If you mount an ELASTO lock horizontally, the object in horizontal position may be unbalanced, and may slide out. You may combine multiple ELASTO Gear Locks to secure a longer object.
The ELASTO Gear Locks are color-matched to our products: Available in Black, Coyote Tan, and Wolf Gray.

The gear lock work great on my backpacks from carrying anything between an Ax, tripod to a hunting seat. Great Product
Looking forward to using this for my tripod!
I had been wondering how to attach a hard plastic tube "sheath" to my backpack. Voila!
One obvious caveat -- if what you're attaching vertically is cylindrical and relatively heavy (like the tomahawk in the pic), it will need something for the bottom end to rest against (again like the 'hawk in the pic). Or, you could turn it so that the big end is toward the top....
Ever since I bought my Ibex bag I've been impressed and happy with items from Vanquest. The Elasto Gear locks are no different. I ordered two sets, one for my Ibex and one for my Pilum. They are one of those items that adds a significant upgrade and will continue to prove useful. Couple that with a fair price and good quality and I can safely say I have no regrets with my latest purchase.
I use these to secure the lower part of my hiking poles to the back of my back pack. My pack has upper loops installed. If it did not then a second set of these locks would work for the upper part.
This is cool accessory. Only wish it was able to attach different directions on webbing/straps.
